This hub does not support Apple USB SuperDrive and cannot read hard drives more than 2TB.
The temperature of the hub will raise up to 47 Celsius (116 Fahrenheit) when working, but IC Chips will be constant temperature. But it does NOT damage your devices.
You could use third party Displaylink driver to solve that problem for Windows, macOS, Android, Chrome OS and Ubuntu machines. It is a free software.

The laptop USB C AC Adapter is required on the USB C Power Delivery port on all USB C Hubs and Docks to maximize the ports and for the stability of the ports on the USB C Hubs and Docks. Otherwise, the ports will be unstable and short out periodically.
